What is Medicare?

 Medicare is a Federal Health Insurance Program for:

• People age 65 and older
• People under age 65 with certain disabilities
• People of any age with end-stage renal disease (ESRD) or Lou Gehrig's Disease

Hospital Insurance

• Covers inpatient care in hospitals
• Covers skilled nursing facilities and hospice

 Medical Insurance

• Covers doctors' services, hospital outpatient care, and home health care
• Covers preventative services to help maintain your health and to keep certain illnesses from getting worse 

 Medicare Advantage Plans

• These plans are run by Medicare-approved private insurance companies
• They include Part A, Part B, and can also include Part D (Prescription Drug Coverage)

 Medicare Prescription Drug Coverage

• Covers the cost of prescription drugs
• May help to lower prescription drug costs and protect against higher costs in the future 

 Medicare Supplement

• Private health insurance designed to supplement original Medicare (Parts A & B)
• Helps to pay co-pays, co-insurance, and deductibles
